I feel privileged to be named the 2018 Queensland MARSH Rural Ambassador. Representing the Bell Show Society and the Darling Downs sub-chamber, I am proud to be the first Agricultural Science teacher to win the Rural Ambassador Award.
As the 2018 Queensland Rural Ambassador, I’m looking forward to the creating new networks within the agricultural industry. I would like to be positive role model for all young people and provide them with knowledge and opportunities to become involved in the agricultural industry and in their local shows to ensure the continuation of the show movement into the future. As an Agricultural Science teacher and coordinator of the Cattle Show Team at Downlands College, I hope to inspire my students to continue their involvement with the agricultural industry once they have finished school.
In addition to teaching, I also own and operates my own farm where I breed commercial cattle. I also enjoy being both a spectator and volunteer at community events and can often be found announcing at numerous horse events, team penning events and at the Bell Show Society Campdraft. I am the fundraising coordinator for the Bell Show Society Campdraft, which supported Beyond Blue as our charity of choice this year, raising over $1400.
With my passion for agriculture and the show movement, I look forward to networking with many show societies throughout the next 12 months. Please feel free to contact me if you would like me to be involved at your local show or if I could be of any assistance. Best wishes for all your upcoming shows in 2019.
